The doctor will ask you a few questions about your sun exposure and skin history.

They will ask you to proceed to the examination couch and draw a curtain around you. They will ask you to remove your glasses, watch, jewellery and clothing, down to your underwear. This can be daunting for some patients and you may ask for a chaperone if this makes you feel more comfortable. When you are ready, lay down on the couch, facing the ceiling and let the doctor, know you are ready.

Skin cancers can develop anywhere. Generally, our doctors will check under the back of your bra and check your bottom, but they do not routinely check under the front of your underwear. They may move parts of your underwear out of the way if these are covering large areas of your body. You are advised to check your intimate areas prior to attending, and if you have any concerns about these areas, please inform the doctor.
